Bud grew up in the Kansas City area and after graduating from Washington High School he went to Calvary Bible College, graduating with a BS degree in Pastoral studies in 1977 and his M.A. of ministry from Moody Bible Institute in 1997.  In 1978 he married Kay and they have two children.

Bud has served in the past as a youth pastor, pastor of High Prairie Church of Leavenoworth for over 17 years, Station manager of KLJC, Calvary 88.5 for two years and here at Bonner Springs Baptist Church since 2006.

His wife Kay grew up on a farm in Northeast Missouri & when she was in eighth grade made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She attended Moody Bible Institute & graduated from CalvaryBibleCollege. She met her husband, Bud, while at Calvary & has been his helpmate for the last 30+ years. Bud and Kay have a daughter, Erin, a son, Ben, daughter-in-law, Andrea, as well as grandsons, Presely,  and Cal, and granddaughter Katie.
